Saranagathi by Swamy Desikan part 3

In continuation to my earlier posting on Adaikalapathu let me continue with the meanings of remaining pasurams.

Pasuram #9 

Suruthi nanivariym thinuvudayar thoomozhigal 

Parithimadhi Asiriyar Pasuram sernuthu aruk kanagal 

Karuthi oru thelivalaar kalakamaru Athigiri 

Parithimadhi payanamudai paraman adi paninthene!

Meaning : What are the duties to be after Prapatti?

It's just not sufficient to say "I have done Saranagathi and hence can do whatever I want". It's important that a prapanan should follow atleast few disciplines activities to remain his thoughts focused on his goal, ie attaining the Moksham.

1. A saranagathan should try understand  the meanings of Vedam (Suruthi), Ninavu (Smrithi), Azhwar's Pasurangal, Acharyan's Sri sukthi etc.. 

2. One should follow an Acharyan and his advise. By this one will get a clarity in his mind and hence can fall at the feet of Lord Athigiri Perarulalan (Varadan) with no confusions in mind. 

In this Pasuram Swamy Desikan also highlights the importance of Azhwar & Acharyans and our duty to follow them. 

Pasuram #9:  Understand Dhiya Thampathigal and surrendering

Thirumagalum Thiruvadivum Thiruvarulam Armaiyilamai uravum alapariya vadivarasum 

Karumam Azhi palipamaipum kalakamila vagai ninra Arul Varadhar Nilayilakil Ambene Nan anzhiyhene!

Arul Varadar is the one

1. Thirumagalum - the one who never gets separated himself from Thirumagal (Sri Lakshmi)

2. Thiruvadivum - the one who has a glorious thirumeni (body shape)

3. Thiruvarulam - one who can shower unmatched blessings 

4. Thelarivum - one who has the crystal clear knowledge

5. Arumaiyilamai uravum - the one who can't be understood by anyone who is connected to HIM so easily. That means it's not easy for anyone to understand the greatness of Varadhar easily. Nevertheless HE creates the connectivity to the devotee and maintains the relationship. That shows the simplicity of Lord Varadhar towards his devotee. 

6. Alapariya Vadivarasu - one who owns unmeasurable kingdom 

7. Karumam ozhi palipum amamaipu - the one who does job of creation, protection  and destruction.

Like a bow which reaches and mergers it's target, my thoughts are always filled with the glory of Lord Athigiri Arulalar (Varadhar).

Pasuram #11 : In this Pasuram Swamy Desikan highlights the benefits we gain by chanting above 10 pasurams. He says he is  chanting above 10 pasurams for the benefit all devotees at the feet of Lord Varadhar.

Adiyen tried to bring the explanation on this Adaikalapathu to make the readers understand the importance of Saranagathi.  As it's very important to do Saranagathi even to understand more about Azhwar Pasurangal this topic was chosen. 

My request to readers. If you can't learn all Granthams like Saranagathi Gadhyam or Nalayira Dhivya Prabhandam fully atleast chant these 11 Pasurams and you will get same benefits.

Basics of Sri Vaishnavam - #2 - Saranagathi

Before we get into further details on Sri Vaishnavam the first and foremost important topic we should understand is about Saranagathi.  Once we do this, then Emperuman will bless us to understand the rest more in detail.  Saranagathi : 1. Sar anagathi or Prapatti basically means surrendering to Sriman Narayana.  2. " Gathi" means "state".   "Saran" means Surrender.
