Om Namo Narayana||
Perumal & Thyar Thiruvadigale Saranam||
Srimathe Ramanujaya Namha||
Srimathe Nigamananda Maha Desikaya Namaha||

In today's posting let me take the remaining pasurams of Adaikalapathu..

6. Pasuram #6 - What are different types of Saranagathi?

Alavuday Adaintharkum Athanuryre Kondavarkym Valvurai thanthavan arule maniya mathavathrokum; kalavu ozhivar emarenna isainthavarkum kavalaram thulavu mudi arul varadar thuvakil enai vaithene!

Meaning : In this Pasuram Swamy Desikan explains the four types of Saranagathi.

1. Svanishtai - Saranagathi by Self - Usually by those who gain full knowledge by themselves and practice Saranagathi principles

Alaudayar Adaintharukum - people who have thorough knowledge of Saranagathi and it's components and practice by themselves

2. Ukthinishtai - Understanding the concepts like anukulya sankalpam, do only things that is liked by Perumal and live life.

Adhan Uraiye Kondavarkum - follow only practices as defined by texts. Here the difference is one don't try to analyze and understand but just blindly follow it..

3. Acharya Nishtai - Get an Acharyan and just be under his blessings and follow steps of Acharyan

Vala vurai thanthavan - Acharyan who gives meanigul guidance

Arule maniya maa thavathoor - those who just follow Acharyans (Acharya Nishtai)

4. Bhagavatha Nishtai - Praising the Bhagavathas who follow Prapatti principles and be under their practices

kalavu ozhivar emar enna isainthavarkum - the people with pure atma who avoid any bad things and have like minded people (emar enna) and align with them

Hence I surrender to Lord Varadhar who protects all who follow Saranagathi in any one of above form.

7. Pasuram # 7 : Should I to do Saranagathi every time?

Umadhadigal Adaiginern Enru Oru kal Uraaithavarai, amuym ini enbavar pol anjal ena karam vaithu; thamadhu anaithum vazhangiyum tham miga vilangum amaumudai arulalar adi inaigalai adaithene!

Meaning: Swamy Desikan highlights here that "Prapatti or Saranagathi" to be done only once for a  specific result, "moksham",.  The moment you say you are surrendering to Lord Varadaraja, HE showers all his blessings and take care of the Prappanan with great compassion and make sure you get your desired result.

Umadhagal Adigineren Enru oru kal uraithavarai - the person who says, "I surrender to your feet" only once..

Amaiyum ini enbavar pol anjal ena karam vaithu - Then Lord says 'Now you will get it (ini amaiym)" and shows his hands such way that he gives us the message "don't fear (anjael)".   Please get in your mind the posture of Lord Varadaraja where he shows his Abha Hastam towards his feet.

thamadu anaithum vazhaigiyum tham miga vilangum - Lord gives all his Ishwaryam & kataksham to the prapannan but still stands great (tall)

Amavudai arulalar - Lord who glitters and who can shower his compassion

adi inaigalai Adainthene - I am surrending to his feet

Please note actually "Prapatti for Moksham" to be done only once but before you start any task like travel or marriage or any ritual just think of Perumal and tell in your mind that you are leaving the responsibility of getting the job completed to HIM only.  this will yield great results in my experience.

8. Pasuram 8 : How should I maintain my status after doing Prapatti?

Thinmai Kurayamaikum niragaighum theevinayal unmai maravamikum ula mathil ugagikaikum;
Thankmai kazhiyamaikum, tharikaikum thaigaikum vamaiuydaya arulalar vasagangal maravene!

Meaning : Swamy Desikan highlights here how we should maintain our mental status after we take Prapatti or surrendering to Perumal.

a. After you do Prapatti,  our determination in mind should never go down  (thinmai kurayamai); \
b. always fill with Jnanam and Bhakthi (niragaikum)
c, Never forget your true knowledge because of your bad deeds (thee vinayal unmai maravamikum)
d. keep doing good things that makes you satisfied internally out of your knowledge on Saranagathi (ula mathil ugaikaikum)
d. thanmai kazhiyamaikum - never let your standards go down
e. just maintain your life till you get moksham - tharikaikum
f. not to slip away our regular duties - thanikaikum

To keep all above status I am surrendering the only mighty feet of Lord Athigiri Varadhar

As Adieyn wanted to give enough time for all to digest this beautiful Saranagathi Pasurangal taken more explanations and giving ample time for one to read and understand it clearly,   Hence Adiyen continuing the remaining two pasuram details and the pala sthtuthi pasuram in the next posting which you can expect in a day or two.
